Michalis Vassiliou (in Greek: Μιχάλης Βασιλείου) is currently an Assistant Professor and holds the Chair of Seismic Design and Analysis, at the Institute of Structural Engineering (IBK), of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (DBAUG), ETH Zürich. He is a Civil Engineer and has studied in NTU Athens (Diploma 2004), UC Berkeley (MSc 2006), and University of Patras (PhD 2010). Since 2012 he has been a Postdoc and a Senior Assistant in the ETH. In 2019, he was hired as an Assistant Professor in the ETH after receiving an ERC Starting Grant.

His research interests lie in the fields of Earthquake Engineering, Applied Mechanics, and Nonlinear Dynamics, with a special focus on rocking, seismic isolation, ground motion analysis, and applications of 3D printing on seismic testing of strcutures.

At the ETH, he is teaching courses on Structural Dynamics and Seismic Isolation.
